Nicola Adams and Joe Joyce in the boxing through to the semi, so two more guaranteed medals there.

Joshua Buatsi won a bronze in the past hr, don't know if that is included in the medal table

Smith seen as less change than Trump? I guess it makes sense, but I still feel bad for him.

Team GB won fewer than half of the total cycling medals available.

    Must do better...

On the naughty step with the rowers, who missed their target despite being #1.

@Samfr: One medal in the athletics tonight and this would be GB's most medals in a day since 1908. #Rio2016

What chances have we got. Outside chance in the high jump and very very outside chance in the Women's 1500m and Mens 110m hurdles...as in if people fall over.

Am I correct in saying that GB is not doing as well re-Athletics medals as back in 2012?

What 2016 has shown us is that Team GB do not require a home crowd in order to excel - that we can not only retain Golds in cycling, rowing and equestrian events, but also branch out into unknown territory like gymnastics and field. – If Team GB could produce a team of decent swimmers, who knows what we could achieve in Tokyo.

We were very very close in lots of events in the swimming. 7 x 4th places.

Four golds, one silver, one bronze last time. We should get as many medals but maybe only a couple of golds.

Athletics is one sport where you are seeing a much wider diversity in nations doing well. Gone are the days of ~10 nations dominating all the finals and hovering up all the medals e.g. You don't see many finals now where there are 2-3 Americans.

Actually, scratch the American comment, they have had 2 in pretty much all the finals. However, the 2nd one has often not been in with a medal shot.

But there is definitely a much more diverse make up. The 400m in particular.

Blimey, that’s an amazing stat, - in an annoyingly frustrating way, but lots of room for improvement.

Our swimming team has actually been pretty decent this Olympics, 1 gold, 5 silvers. That is better than our current athletics tally, 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze

Trump has tweeted this statement on his Facebook page which led me to observe that his official page has twice as many likes (over 10 million) as Hillary's. Possibly significant given the probable age distribution on Facebook.

Just as we won the Cold War, in part, by exposing the evils of communism and the virtues of free markets, so too must we take on the ideology of Radical Islam.

While my opponent accepted millions of dollars in Foundation donations from countries where being gay is an offense punishable by prison or death, my Administration will speak out against the oppression of women, gays and people of different beliefs.

Not defending just because I live here, but there`s a context. Obviously there`s no defence in booing.

First, Brazil doesn`t win many medals, so any chance is grabbed like the last one. Second, we have a football culture here, so we don`t know how to "do olympics". Third, the french didn`t even compliment the brazilian, so people were already angry.

Was it wrong? Probably. What about today? Dare I say that people would have applaud him if he didn`t say that the crowd was behaving like the nazis or that we won because of religion or some mystic thing.

Another thing, he`s an athlete, he must have focus no matter the crowd.

Russia Stripped Of Beijing Women's 4x100m Relay Gold
Yulia Chermoshanskaya's sample was retested and was found to contain traces of several anabolic steroids, including stanozolol.

The Russian Federation team is disqualified from the women's 4x100m relay," the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said.

"The corresponding medals and diplomas are withdrawn and shall be returned."

This was from the Bejing olympics in 2008 and they retain samples for 10 years and can retest with newer methods.

How many other clean athletes were robbed of their medals? If they give the medals to rightful owners would they ever mean the same?

    Update....

On the plus side Brazil just won a medal.......

Belgium stands to be upgraded to the relay gold, with Nigeria moving up to silver and Brazil to bronze.

Like I said will it ever mean the same...getting it "in the post" 8 years later so to speak.

Well, remember also that many countries give cash payments to their medallists, which might come in handy. We don't, but give honours instead.
