Has Mike posted more stories about accusations that Leave broke some electoral law or stories about accusations that the Conservatives broke some electoral law in 2015 ?

Stories about the LibDems actually breaking electoral law do not seem to interest OGH so much.

And we need to rethink the world of work for older people - allow people to retire later subject to medical fitness plus allowing people to cut back their hours / move down career rungs without loss of earned pension rights. We could also make the basic state pension allowable to be taken earlier but be worth pennies, and have it get better for each year you delay taking it - and it could get great if you delay a lot (at the risk of dying before you retire as used to be the case).

We also need a re-think of how later retirement will affect the care of older relatives. Like many, I was obliged to take early retirement because my father needed more care than working allowed. Home visits 3 times a day just weren't enough. And by the time he died, I was no good for work any more.

Good evening, everyone - and congratulations to OGH, I gather I missed a birthday issue.
That is a very good point. Thank you. We rely heavily on the work that the retired do to support family and wider society. We need to find mechanisms to recognise and support people doing that too. Allowing carers to earn increments on state pension rights maybe.
Interestingly I was told by a Chinese delegation that this is the reason why their very low retirement age (55 as a rule) persists - the idea is that people in their 60s should be looking after the aged. They said it's breaking down becaue of mobility - people no longer stay in the same place as they used to (and indeed were required to) - and the need to keep people in the workforce as a result of the past one-child policy. But it's very difficult to change as families have planned on hat basis.

    Asking for a friend.

Is the phrase/term 'Labour's Jewish Problem' too inflammatory for the morning thread?

It's tendentious, but who says PB headlines have to be neutral?

Here is the Channel 4 / Observer ‘exclusive’ about to air this evening, leaked to me by an ‘appalled’ journalist in the C4 newsroom…

Their whistleblowers are already discredited as liars and charlatans. Wylie tried to sell me the same crap he accuses Cambridge Analytica of doing — and I told him to get lost (in writing). Shahmir told a completely different story to a previous investigation, which evidence will be with the Electoral Commission.

Accusations from the dishonest @Jolyon that Vote Leave did not have permission from the EC to give donations to other campaigns were disproved in open court just days ago when the documents were revealed, and @Jolyon was criticised by the court for his conduct.

C4 and Observer think this will help cancel the referendum.

    They are deluded.

Strong words from journalist Robert Craddock of the Brisbane-based Courier Mail, which you might remember as the newspaper which vilified Stuart Broad ahead of the 2013-14 Ashes for not walking...

"Don't think for minute this was an isolated moment of madness... it was a team with grubby standards finally descending into a world which was never far away. The coaches knew nothing? Really? What are they coaching for?"

I agree with you on this point Casino. It's a shame pension age wasnt linked to average life expectancy when the state pension was first introduced - it would have been entirely non-contraversial then. Much harder to introduce now but needs to be done.
The first state pensions in 1908 were means tested and the qualifying age was 70, when average life expectancy was 50. If we had kept that up you would start to get the state pension at 101.
The low life expectancy Centuries ago was substantially due to childhood mortality, maternal mortality and male mortality through violent acts in war. Average 3 people dying at 2 and two at 74 and you wind up with mean life expectancy of 50. Median is a better measure, or mean life expectancy at age 18.
    RIP Math. ;)

The argument itself is still true though.

At the end of the day, as we are told repeatedly, the referendum was “advisory”. Any decisions to change course on Brexit are therefore political, not legal issues, and have been superseded by the legal process arising from decisions of the House of Commons. Ironically as a result of Remain campaigners taking the Government to court to force them to take account of the need for Parliamentary validation.

Looks like one dodgy wheel gun took both cars out. Some spares might be in order before the next race.

I think people describe them as 'the one on the left of the screen' and the 'one on the right of the screen'.
