Fast forward twenty years and Major is characterised as a political titan - the benefit of being followed by the catastrophes that were Blair and Brown.
Oddly enough I'm watching House of Cards for the first time, on BBC iPlayer. Between episodes 2 and 3, Major took over as prime minister, which is the best timing a TV drama has ever had I think. Can't believe I haven't watched it until now.

They have realised that May is going to take herself out because Chequers is going nowhere - all they need to do is wait. The time she will be challenged is when and if she comes back with. Chequers sellout. They are playing it very well.

First, it really does seem pardon proof, as it includes admission of facts in the charges on which the jury in his original trial was deadlocked - which would make any state prosecution a slam dunk. Secondly, and more importantly from the Trump perspective, the cooperation agreement appears to be total, not excluding his time in the Trump campaign, and agreeing to further questioning without any lawyer present. It sounds as though what he knows, he will tell - or has already told.
Any further suggestion from the administration that the investigation be ended just became a great deal more dangerous for Trump, or anyone in the Justice Department who might follow Trump’s order to do so.
