The Supreme Court fight has seemed to have galvanised the American right (for now) leading to a firming in the GOP generic ballot numbers. However anyone paying attention to American politics over the last two years will know how fast the news cycles have been moving. By election day there will be about 394,859,505,50 news cycles and this latest tussle will be forgotten.

The Access Hollywood tape dropped with around this many days to go, and we all know how much that affected (or didn't) the result........

The generic ballot has gone back and forth but the Dem lead has remained within a tight range with a fairly stable lead of around 7%.

In some unexpectedly happy news, Steve Richards has a new series out on BBC Parliament. It's called "Reflections" (cf his previous "Turning Points") and you can find it here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b0bkyrx5

Thanks, looks interesting. Steve Richards is one of our best political journalists.

Indeed. "Turning Points" was repeated recently and was as enjoyable now as it was when first transmitted. "Reflections" covers The Best Prime Ministers We Never Had, which is a bit of a cliche but whateva. I'm doing Denis Healey at the moment (so to speak... :open_mouth: )

I assume most people who would care already know but just incase he also has his own podcast, although he hasn't updated in a few weeks. I usually enjoy his work.

Well worth reading the replies to this, funniest thread I've seen on twitter.
