But DUP have no moral authority to vote on non-NI bills, however. Or indeed any authority at all under EVEL. No wonder Mr Gove was so keen to abolish EVEL.
The SNP also can't sincerely complain about EVEL if their behaviour informally incorporates it. So to complain about EVEL, they have to start voting on England/Wales/NI matters. If that makes sense?
But that's the point. EVEL didn't stop the SNP from voting on English-only matters. All EVEL did was mean that there needed to be a double-majority of English-only MPs and all MPs in order to pass legislation. Scottish MPs could still vote to reject English-only law changes. EVEL was never really English votes.
New poll: half of Britons (53%) support #EVEL 23% oppose it. 40% support English parliament, 30% oppose. @itvnews http://comres.co.uk/poll/1352/itv-news-evel-poll.htm …
That was exactly what EVEL did, and what it was designed for. EVEL would have had to be abolished by Labour. Now, for the nth time, wht did your party abolish that safeguard if it's so worried about the possibility?
The SNP campaigned tremendously hard for the ULTIMATE EVEL ! EVEL inevitably weakens the union, particularly after the SVSL regarding FFA was voted down by English votes. This suits both the SNP and the Conservatives long term.
